When seeking out a senior living option, many times this is done in crisis, so quick decisions are necessary. Even when in the middle of a crisis, please ask these five questions:
First, are you pending any state investigations or penalties? This will let you know more current care habits and if issues have risen to a compliance level.
Second, what would the last three people who moved here say about their experience and can I talk to them? This will give you a feel for how in-tune the person you are talking with is regarding their customers.
Third, who is your most tenured employee and what would they say about operations here and can I speak with them? Again, from an employee point-of-view you will learn about the ins and outs of the location.
Fourth, what other place would you suggest and why? At a minimum this will give you a back-up in case things don't work out.
Fifth, what are your visiting hours? It will be super important to visit at different hours throughout the day and night to engage with staff to let them know your expectations.
